Travel Story

Tommy and his mom, Chelsea, are on their way to Texas. Chelsea’s husband, Tyler, is on his way home from Afghanistan.  This will be the first time that Tyler will meet Tommy. Tyler had enlisted in the United States Army about three years ago. A month later, Chelsea had found out that she was pregnant. Tyler had tried to come home to be there for Tommy’s birth, but Chelsea had insisted that he can stay in Afghanistan.  Tommy was terrified to go on the plane. In the boarding terminal, he held onto his mom’s leg and cried. Tommy had tried his very best to convince his mom not to make go on the plane. Eventually, Chelsea got Tommy to calm down by buying him some sour patch kids on the plane. The plane ride is about four and a half hours. By the second hour, Tommy was out cold sleeping. Chelsea began to feel nervous about seeing Tyler. The plane was about to land and Tommy had woken from his nap. Chelsea, who heart was about to burst out of her chest,  whispered in his ear "It is time to meet daddy".

Travel Poem

You have always imagined it,
 daydreamed about it,
Take the first step to see what us is out there,
on this beautiful planet.
Refresh your perspective on things and
Go discover who you are,
Become a well rounded person
and make your dreams come true.
Navigate the world,
from the alleys of Marrakech
to the jungle canopy of Peru.
Be calm with whatever the road brings.

Above is my poem that I wrote. The hardest part of making this poem was decided were to break the lines. The easiest part of writing this poem was finding an article to base your words on and finding creative words to use in my poem.

Poem Post

The Road Not Taken

By Robert Frost

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,
And sorry I could not travel both
And be one traveler, long I stood
And looked down one as far as I could
To where it bent in the undergrowth;

Then took the other, as just as fair,
And having perhaps the better claim,
Because it was grassy and wanted wear;
Though as for that the passing there
Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay
In leaves no step had trodden black.
Oh, I kept the first for another day!
Yet knowing how way leads on to way,
I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh
Somewhere ages and ages hence:
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I—
I took the one less traveled by,
And that has made all the difference.

Review Post #1 - Washington DC

When I was eleven years old, I went on a trip to Washington DC for girl scouts. We traveled on a bus from my hometown, Richmond, MN and drove all the way to Washington DC. We drove through about nine states in eight days.

Each day there was multiple stops to eat or to see different popular tourists sights. A negative of the trip was when you would get back to the hotel, it would be late at night, and the next morning you have to be on the bus by seven am.

A positive thing about the trip, is that it was very well organized, and you do not have to worry about driving. The trip was planned out so you could go venture out on your own, which was helpful because you were free to spend more time at the sights that you were more interested in compared to the less popular sights.

I would recommend going on a trip like the one that I went on. This trip introduce myself to new cultures and understanding of the history behind popular monuments. On the trip, I also had the opportunity to meet new people from other girl scout troops in Minnesota. If I were to go on a trip like this again, the biggest thing I would change is to fly to the location instead of driving. I would rate this trip a nine out of ten.

Other Popular Travel Blogs

I went to see other travel blogs, and the best one that I saw was Nomadic Matt. In my opinion, Nomadic Matt blog should get an award for being unique in their blog post topic and having a clean, organized layout.
